If you’re like me, (and most humans on the planet) it’s a struggle to get the recommended amount of fruits and vegetables each day. However, as I’ve embarked on a quest to eat healthier, I’ve found ways to sneak them in!
Sneak them in at Snack Time!
Bare snacks are a GREAT way to get more fruits and veggies (and for those of you who are Whole30 fans, they’re compliant). Honestly, these are as delicious and easy to snack on as a bag of chips, without the guilt. Their bags are small enough to fit in your work tote or gym bag and reseal easily. These are the perfect go to snack!
Bake them in
Your family will never know they’re getting more veggies if you sneak them into baked good. Substitute avocado for eggs and butter in cookies, brownies, bread and beyond for a soft, healthier way to curb your sweet tooth. (Additionally, there are a lot of healthy and easy recipes that call for bananas and zucchini!)
Hide them in a Smoothie
My best bet at getting extra fruits and vegetables is to put them in my Ninja. From mixing spinach and bananas in with my protein shake in the morning to just straight up making a delicious juice, this is an easy way to get a good dose of fruits and veggies!
Make Your Own Sauces
Have pasta fanatics in your house? Puree vegetables like tomatoes, peppers, etc. to make your own sauces. They won’t be processed and you can add whatever you want to them to make something your family will love!
Have them Handy
This is my biggest downfall. It’s not that I dislike fresh vegetables and fruits, but if I don’t take the time to chop them up, they’re going to go to waste. I’ve started to set aside an hour or two on Sundays to prep veggies for the week. I cut up cucumbers, peppers, carrots, and celery for the week and ensure that apples and mandarins are clean and in eye sight.
