If you’re like me, you’re trying to eat healthier lifestyle changes and eat better. But, if you’re also like me, you’re unwilling to do that without keeping some of your favorites. Well, you’re in luck! Many of the foods we love (like gooey brownies and ice cream) are available in a healthier (but still delicious) form!
Gluten Free? You Can Still Have Yummy Baked Goods!
For my friends that have recently cut out gluten, they seem to miss fresh baked goods the most. Here’s where Simple Mills comes in. They have mixes and packaged cookies as well as other great items to try. My four year old loved the pumpkin muffins and I don’t feel comfortable admitting how many brownies I consumed fresh from the oven! Simple Mills is simply delicious!
Allergic to Peanuts? No Problem!
If you’re allergic to peanuts or don’t love all of the sugar in some peanut butters, check out Beyond the Equator’s 5 Seed butter. I love this! It’s a little sweeter than PB (which makes it the absolute PERFECT topping for my new breakfast favorite, a chocolate chip KidFresh frozen waffle!) My dad is a lifelong lover of peanut butter and even really loved this stuff. (So much, he took a jar home when he visited last week!)
Treat Yourself: With a Lot Less Calories
Goodpop popsicles are literally the best. Though the cookies and cream held a special place in my ice cream loving heart, I’m now fully enamored with their new fudge pops. Give them a try!
Satisfy Your Sweet Tooth
You guys—I’m a SUCKER for Girl Scout Cookies. Like, I would literally eat them all the time if I could. Lately, I’ve been enjoying these mint cookie bars from WW. Chocolate + Mint + easy to carry in your bag for that 3 p.m. pick me up? Perfection.
The Picnic Alternative So You Don’t Feel Left Out
Nothing says summer to me like a hot dog. BUT, I’ve been trying to eat less meat and when I see the contents of a hot dog on the back of a package, I get nauseous. However, I’m a long time fan of SmartDogs. These veggie hot dogs are a yummy alternative so you don’t feel left out.
I’d love to hear what alternatives you’re enjoying this summer. Tweet them to me with the hashtag #healthyalternatives to @juliakayporter on Twitter!
