Dr. Julia Porter is an educator and a writer.

Dr. Porter began her career as a high school English teacher in Brooklyn, NY and has taught college courses since 2008 in writing, literature, first year seminar, humanities, and ethics courses. She also served as the Director of Programs for GlamourGals.org and has experience in the non-profit sector through her professional and personal interests.

As a first-generation college student, Dr. Porter has made an effort to ensure that all students that want to, have the ability to succeed. She has a passion for diversity and in educating about the nuances of adoption, as that is how she chose to grow her family.

Dr. Porter has made a career out of teaching, educating others about cultural competency and supporting student success.

Dr. Porter holds a PhD in Global Leadership from Indiana Tech, an MA in English Literature from Brooklyn College, and a BS in English Education from Indiana University/Purdue University-Indianapolis (IUPUI).

Dr. Porter’s personal interests include: reading, writing, traveling and experiencing new cultures and knitting.

Dr. Porter lives in Indiana with her husband, Kyle, daughter, Brooklyn, and Australian Shepherd, Biscuit.
